Franchise Background - Ambulance/Fire/Police
Fire Service
Ian Symons
My name is Ian and I have owned an outer metro franchise in Melbourne for 6 months. After 35 years in the Fire Service at Senior Management level, mostly involving crisis management and other people's issues, I have found the transition to practical work both refreshing and rewarding. My knowledge and skills are the product of my work experiences, my participation in working bees with service clubs and my own DIY stuff. I continue to learn as I take on new projects. The range of work I can undertake is up to me. I organise my own work program so I have time for me. I also have scope to grow the business and turn it into a valuable and saleable going concern when I really want to retire.
Police Force
Darryl Rivett
I commenced a fitter and turner apprenticeship upon leaving school and remained in the industry for fourteen years, mainly doing general maintenance duties in State Government buildings. Upon leaving the trade, I joined the South Australia Police Force, where I remained for ten years and then moved on to working for the Local Government (Council) for five and a half years as a Planning/Building Inspector. I then transferred to the Federal Government as Senior Workplace Inspector with the Workplace Ombudsman, where I stayed for two and a half years.
During the past thirty two years I have continually maintained my trade skills by attending to all large and small projects on my and my families properties to which I can now transpose over to my Hire A Hubby business. I feel very confident in making this transition to Hire A Hubby and feel at this stage in my life and family situation, that it is right with the support and backing of a well known, reputable and community minded company.
