Franchise Induction Training
Welcome to training - a very important part of the induction process for our new franchise recruits. This is a brief overview of what actually happens during this 5 day event.
This course has been a constant evolution over the last 12 year period. With the varied backgrounds of our franchise network, there has been a great opportunity to constantly learn new "tricks" and incorporate them into our course.
All training is conducted at Head Office in Sydney, and flights and accommodation are all included in the start up package.
FRANCHISE TRAINING MANAGER PROFILE - MIKE MCLEOD
Mike operated a Hire A Hubby franchise in Sydney's Upper North Shore for five years before taking on the role of NSW Operations Manager. Combining the practical experience that made him a very successful franchisee with his management skills, Mike makes the Induction Training Course very real in the sense of knowing he has been there and done it all before.
Mike undertakes a large percentage of our Franchise Audits, giving him access to up to the minute pricing patterns from all over the country, enabling him to provide real value when working through the quoting session in the training course. His real life stories are a great feature of the training course.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The course is split up into the following topics and sections:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Here we look at some home truths that trades people in general don’t like to hear. “What are customer’s expectations? How should we conduct ourselves in someone’s home? How we greet and communicate with our customers?”... are just the some of the issues we address. Addressing quotes, follow-ups, and asking for work are some of the other important issues in this section. This section also highlights the importance of developing relationships with our clients, with repeat and referral work a key to our success!
BUSINESS PLANNING
One of the most important things about running a business is making time for basic planning. In this session we address the issue of developing a business plan and cover the fundamentals of running a business. At Hire A Hubby, we are aware that the majority of new franchisees have never run a business before, and as such, this component of the Training Course is tailored to meet the needs of everyone.
MARKETING & WORK GENERATION
This is a topic most tradesmen would rather ignore or forget. We detail a range of sales and marketing and promotional ideas that franchisees should take on board if they intend to run a successful business. The Hire A Hubby brand is well recognised, and our shirts are "conversation starters" making work generation very easy.
ACCOUNTING
All Hire A Hubby Franchisees are issued with a Laptop and printer to be carried with them in their vehicle. A standard Hire A Hubby ‘Chart Of Accounts’ is loaded onto your computer in readiness for the start of your training course. All of your personal information is set up in a series of template documents making the use of the computer a very simple one.
This session is conducted by an external accountant/bookkeeping company. Their goal is to stress the fundamentals of good book keeping and accounting. This session also provides an opportunity to ask questions on various methods of doing this effectively.
Our Bookkeepers have a special deal for Hire A Hubby Franchisees to provide assistance in the privacy of your own home should you feel that you need the additional assistance.
OH&S AWARENESS
Hire A Hubby has carefully positioned itself as a Corporate entity that is compliant with OH&S provisions, and capable of taking advantage of the enormous corporate/commercial market for the provision of maintenance services. Our Induction Course focuses on the OH&S matters that are part of the day to day operations of a typical “Hubby” Franchisee and highlights some of the risks and hazards they can be confronted with. This is particularly valuable to people that have been off the tools for quite some time. From working with power tools in an environment where there are children and pets running around, to undertaking risk assessments when entering one of our commercial clients or major shopping centres, the Hire A Hubby OH&S Training will make sure you are ready to start work safely. This section compliments the relevant State OH&S Induction Card that you will have completed prior to attending training.
QUOTING PROCESS
Without a doubt this would be the most worrying issue that a new franchisee is confronted with. “Will I get it right?”; “Do I over quote and lose the job, or is the price too low and I don’t make any money?”; “How do I estimate how much time jobs will take?” These are some of the questions that cross the minds of new Franchisees. The entire process of preparing a quote is addressed in this section of our training course. Hire A Hubby franchisees have a very strong success rate with quoting from their very first week of operation.
Our Operational Support team are also on hand to monitor your quote success ratios on a weekly basis for a minimum of 4 months.
After completing the above session, we follow up by practicing a range of simple quotes which are then evaluated. Here we quickly realise common mistakes and typical oversights but at the same time learn typical “tricks of the trade”, knowledge and new skills. By the end of this session our franchisees are far more confident and generally ready to go out there and start trading confidently.
WORKSHOP TRAINING - THE HANDS ON SESSION
This one and a half day session has a number of varied hands-on exercises which allows people to learn and develop new skills, or refine those skills you may not have used recently. There is also an opportunity to compare a few of the quotes to see how they stack up with the actual jobs carried out in the workshop. More handy hints and tricks of the trade are learned as we sail through this period (a general comment is “time flies when you have fun”)!
TRAINING REVIEW
At the conclusion of the Training Course, we summarise our learnings, and request feedback from our franchisees in relation to the course. |
