Radio Technical background
Pete Willows
My
name is Pete Willows. I own a Hire A Hubby franchisee in beautiful
Hobart, Tasmania. I first started a HAH franchise in Sydney in March
of 2003 which I owned for two years and then commenced trading in
Hobart in April of 2005.
I come
from a RAAF Radio Technical background (22yrs service) thereafter
10yrs as a Sales Engineer / Product Manager in Technical Test Equipment
and Microwave Communications including Sales in OH&S equipment.
I decided to take a complete lifestyle change based on becoming
my own boss with new challenges. The transition to being a Hubby
has been an ongoing experience especially wearing Magenta shirts
instead of suits / uniforms, however, job satisfaction has always
been high not to mention being a fitter more skilled Hubby.
I learnt
most of my basic handyman skills through being a homeowner who has
always liked to do his own work.
Solider
Aust Defence Force
Shaine Stephen
My
name is Shaine and I have been operating a Hire A Hubby franchise
for 3 years in a Metro Area. Previous to Hire A Hubby I was a soldier
within the Australian Defence Force, and was looking for a business
opportunity which offered variety and the chance to learn new skills.
I
found Hire A Hubby to fit all my requirements, the support you receive
from the network and Head Office is outstanding. Having had no previous
business experience, I found the training you receive is beneficial,
and educates you on all aspects of how to successfully operate the
franchise. You are constantly challenged and improving your skills,
if you don’t know how to complete a job there are always people
within your network to seek advice from. The freedom and flexibility
offered by being part of the franchise to be extremely important
to me & my family, as is working with people to help solve their
maintenance problems.
Flight
Engineer with the RAAF
Kane Hollingsworth
My
name is Kane Hollingsworth. My working life prior to Hire A Hubby
was very different. I joined the RAAF in 1978 and after training,
started working as an Engine Fitter on F-111 aircraft. In June 1985
I graduated as a Flight Engineer with the RAAF. I followed this
career path until January 2000 when I discharged and took up a contract
to join the RAF as a Flight Engineer. This fantastic opportunity
took our family to the United Kingdom for five great years. When
the contract finished my wife and I started looking around for a
new direction and after much research and deliberation decided Hire
A Hubby was the right move for us.
I
have been Hire A Hubby Kirwan (in Townsville) since January 2005.
Most of my handyman skills have been learnt by practicing on our
house and those of friends. The transition was much quicker and
easier than I had anticipated and the scope of work means that I
usually learn something new everyday.
